Denim has always been synonymous with the California-cool lifestyle, as perfectly demonstrated by stylish stars such as (left to right) Alessandra Ambrosio, Kate Bosworth, and Kim Kardashian. Once upon a time, the relaxed garment was frowned upon in places like New York City, deemed too frivilous for the earnest fashion capital. Now that notion has rebounded with denim taking over outfits completely.
Earlier this week, Bosworth debunked the stereotype by celebrating New York Fashion Week in affordable denim by Guess at an event hosted by the all-American brand (her same jeans can be found here). While going matchy-matchy with the fabric was also once a big no-no, style influencers are coming around to the Candadian tuxedo. Even the fellas are jumping onboard: Earlier this week, we noted Tyson Beckford's similar style from another fashion-focused event in the city.
The denim-on-denim trend was also a point of focus for many designers who showed their Fall 2014 collections on the runway this week: (left to right) Organic by John Patrick, Tommy Hilfiger, Band of Outsiders, Nicholas K, and J. Crew all confirmed the easy-going attire has taken over the metropolis and is not going anywhere any time soon.
