The Best & Worst Dressed at the MTV Video Music Awards 2014
From animal print body suits to countless plunging necklines and Taylor Swift in a romper, the MTV VMAs were just as unpredictable as always in the fashion department.

See if your favorite celeb made our best dressed list.

Nicki Minaj seemed to be channeling the vibe of her new single Anaconda in this snake-print, sequin mini dress. We thought she looked sexy and loved her retro-inspired hairstyle.

Just in case there was any doubt, Beyoncè is still the queen of the red carpet. She arrived wearing a Nicolas Jebran dress, Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz earrings.

Singer Gwen Stefani rocked the carpet in bold pink and black L.A.M.B. couture top and trousers.

Miley Cyrus was more covered up than we're used to seeing her in an Alexandre Vauthier black leather bandeau bralette and harem pant.

Chanel Iman looked perfectly edgy in a black Balmain dress paired with Casadei’s black leather “Cage” sandal.

Even though we miss her usual wild patterns, we loved Solange Knowles' chic, sparkling H&M Studio Collection suit. She accessorized with Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals and a Stephen Webster bracelet and tooth ring along with various XIV Karat jewels.

Kendall Jenner touched upon two red carpet trends—black bra tops and sheer necklines—with this Alon Livne mesh top and trousers ensemble.

Rapper Iggy Azalea looked stunning and statuesque in this silver Versace gown and a Nasrin Imani geometric diamond necklace from the D'Orazio Showroom.

Rita Ora looked sexy in this red silk charmeuse Donna Karan Atelier gown with a thigh-high slit.

We usually love Taylor Swift's red carpet looks but this one was more gymnast than top-selling artist. Taylor wore a Mary Katrantzou romper, Elie Saab shoes, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Ofira gold pave bands.

Is it just us or is J. Lo pulling a Benjamin Button and aging backwards? Her sparkling Charbel Zoe dress wasn't out favorite of the night—it's a little Dancing with the Stars—but she looked stunning as usual. She also wore Jimmy Choo pumps, Norman Silverman jewels and a silver python Thalé Blanc ‘Talia Mini Fastueux’ clutch.

It was a black out for Kylie Jenner, who paired her billowing silk slit dress with noir heels and a Giles & Brother lariat necklace.

Singer Michelle Williams looked fierce in a Roberto Cavalli giraffe-print halter gown featuring a sexy key-hole neckline.

Singer and mom-to-be Kelly Rowland glowed in this shimmery Kaufman Franco halter gown, which complemented her skin tone perfectly.

Kim Kardashian wore a Balmain dress with a plunging V-neckline and black heels.

"Break Free" singer Ariana Grande went for an uncharacteristically edgy look wearing a short Moschino dress and Tom Ford shoes. We're usually fans of a little edge but this look didn't do it for us.

Singer Jordin Sparks matched boyfriend Jason Derulo (who also wore white) in this low-cut, form-fitting frock that showed off her curves.

Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox glammed up the red carpet in a black Marc Bouwer sequin, one-shoulder mini dress and black heels.

Katy Perry gave a comic nod to Britney Spears' denim dress from the 2001 Video Music Awards in this Versace gown. We give her points for her sense of humor but not so much for her style.

We had flashbacks to Rose McGowan’s 1998 chain-link dress when we saw Amber Rose hit the red carpet in this revealing Laura Dewitt number. It was shocking the first time around and we’re not sure it needed repeating.

We were surprised to see Rocsi Diaz in such an average dress. While the gold Haute Hippie frock flatters her skin tone, it looks more suited to the club than the red carpet.
