Current Obsession: Lancôme Grandiose Mascara
Lancôme is bending the rules with its latest creation, and I couldn't be more thrilled. With its brand new swan neck wand design, the Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara ($32) is nothing like any mascara I've used before. The wand is bent at a 25 degree angle to mimic the curve of your face and make application easier. And it actually works.
I'm able to reach all of my lashes (even the baby ones on the bottom and in the corners) and evenly distribute the mascara. Plus, I haven't once had an accident where mascara has ended up on my nose or cheek thanks to a stiff, staunch wand. (I know I'm not the only one who has had that happen before.)
But not only is the wand itself curved, the brush has varying heights of bristles to grasp and coat every lash. And again, it actually does. I can see my lashes getting coated and plump after each stroke. You might think that a cool wand and brush might mean a mediocre formula, but it's really not the case for this. The formula delivers strong black pigment that's surprisingly long lasting and smudge free. (Really, I was sweating like crazy on my way to work this morning and my mascara didn't budge.)
Made with native rose-cell extract, fewer waxes and longwear polymers, this mascara covers my lashes with my ideal shade of black, doesn't clump and stays on all day. I'm not one for bending the rules, but this is one exception I'm happy to stand behind.
